What is Non-Medical In-Home care and how does it differ from Home Healthcare?

Non-Medical In-Home care refers to care that is non-invasive to the client and of a non-medical nature. Specialized nursing skills are not required to perform the service. Home Healthcare refers to the provision of skilled nursing care that can only be provided by a certified or licensed medical professional such as a CNA or LVN, and other care such as speech, physical or occupational therapy

What services are not provided by AltaGolden?

Any service requiring specialized nursing skills are not provided by AltaGolden. Examples include:

  • Lifting a client (dead weight lifting)
  • Administering medication directly (intravenous or placing it into the mouth)
  • Wound dressing
  • Injections
  • Inserting catheters or any tubing
  • PT, OT, or ST (although we can assist you in doing your daily exercises)
  • Any procedure that can be described as ‘invasive’ to the client’s person

How are AltaGolden employees selected?

Each employee is carefully screened and trained before working with a client. Each employee must undergo a rigorous review process including interviews, national and local criminal background checks, DMV, and personal and professional reference checks. All AltaGolden employees are legal US residents and are bonded and insured through AltaGolden for our clients’ peace of mind. We strive to hire the very best, and we only hire people whom we would want caring for a member of our own family.

How much does In-Home support cost?

Our service charges are very reasonable. We encourage you to contact us directly for a complete list of rates and services.

Does AltaGolden have minimum service hours?

AltaGolden has just a three hour per visit minimum. We have no weekly or monthly visit minimums.

Are services available 24 hours, 7 days a week?

Yes. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. After-hours calls are automatically forwarded to our answering service who immediately contacts us. Please note that services on holidays such as July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day are billed at time and a half.

Do you provide services to those in nursing homes, assisted living, and independent living communities?

Yes. AltaGolden can provide companionship or personal support to residents at assisted living communities and nursing homes who may desire additional attention, personalized care, and care management.

Is there a written plan of care for each client? Is it modified and if so, how often?

AltaGolden develops an individualized Plan of Care for each client, which documents the type of support services needed and how all activities should be performed. Once the client and family members agree on the Plan of Care, AltaGolden staff use that information to assign the employee who will be providing the service and to train the assigned care staff to the client’s needs.

Plans of Care are living documents that are periodically reviewed with the client and/or family based on state regulations or individual needs. The review is an important process to ensure the client is always receiving the appropriate level of care and is pleased with the services provided.

Will I have the same AltaGolden caregiver all the time? What if my caregiver is sick or on vacation?

AltaGolden creates a standard support schedule for each client. Depending upon how much support is required, you may have more than one caregiver but your schedule will outline who is with you for each caregiving shift. We strive to minimize the number of caregivers for each client so that you have the best possible consistency in care.

If a caregiver goes on vacation or is sick we will either schedule one of your other caregivers to fill the gaps or we will introduce a substitute to you whom we will train for your individual support requirements.
